I’m Sync,
a DC artist who creates art
aimed at challenging the idea of
creating outside of one’s vessel.
I was born into a family of creatives,
so creation has always felt natural to me.
As a kid my first friend was Creation.
His father was the Process of Creation, and he would always let
Creation play with me. Even though he was a prophet who indulged in
nonsense, somehow the fun always made sense. My
relationship with music became
more intentional when I made my
first body of work and stepped to
a mic for the first time. I had no
experience, but during the session,
the engineer got up from his seat and
started cranking to what I was doing.
That moment gave me my first real boost
of confidence, and years later, I’m still falling in love
with music every day.
My song “Warfare” was the first song I ever made
and through creating it, I began learning how to
play with words and experiment with double entendres.
After that I started recording music with friends who
were serious about their craft and that pushed me
further. Then I began recording and working as an
engineer at R Street Studio where I
sharpened my skills even more.
Nowadays I spend my time collaborating with other Kiazii members
as a way to continue my process of growth
and discovery.
Right now, I’m running one more lap around hip hop.
Then after that I plan on moving
into a new genre and seeing what
else I can create outside of the vessel
I’ve already built for myself.
Through all of it
the music, the people, the process
the experimenting, and the nonsense
that somehow makes sense, I’ve realized
that creation has always been about connection.
And at the end of the day,
It’s all love.
