A brief introduction before you explore the rest of my page

I’m Val
and I make music for the people.
Whether my music inspires,
illuminates or provides a release
I’m grateful that my audience
can take something from it.
Music and oratory have been a part
of my life for a long time.
From 3rd - 12th grade
I played cello in the school orchestra
and in high school
I took speech all four years.
Towards the end of my career in speech
I found my style transitioning
into spoken word and my pen
starting to sharpen.
During my senior year
of high school I faced
two of my toughest failures at the time,
to cope I found myself
turning to music.
(I loss two major competitions in speech and track and field.)
Music was a strong
catharsis for me and
going down that rabbit
hole led me to
where I am today.
Before moving to DC
to attend college, me
and my friends would
travel around the
Suburbs of Chicago
to perform at different places.
After a while some of those friends
asked me to hop on a track and
one thing led to another.
After a summer of making music,
I came to DC in the fall of 2023
to begin my freshman year at Howard University and
after arriving I immediately began
seeking the nearest recording studio.
From there I found R Street Studio,
Zii and the folks that made up
what soon became Kiazii.
Since starting my college career, music has
evolved from being a catharsis to
a mission of awareness for my people.
Being in college has opened my eyes
to how much political apathy exist
within my generation of people
and specifically my generation of artists.
It disappoints me to see artists
who claim to be radical but don’t use their platforms
and influence to contribute to change.
Being a part of real grassroots movements
and campaigns has steeled my resolve and
I am no longer satisfied with the culture
being in the hands of phonies
who mislead the people.
In 2026 I’ve taken the time to sharpen my skills
and push my presence online.
In the beginning of the year I decided
to get more active with social media
and I’m happy that I did because
it’s made me more comfortable
with being seen by large crowds.
In April I released my EP “Movers”
and it raised the bar for
what I see as quality
work worth releasing.
It’s given me a new
appreciation for the sonics of songs.
In May I released my latest single,
“FUCK THE MONEY” which features
some of my best rapping to date.
And next up is my new mixtape
“Where Even Are We??” which I believe
will be my best body of work yet.

WILD CARD I love to cook and I'm really good at it! I started getting in my bag around late high school and as I age it's become a combination of me genuinely enjoying cooking and then getting to eat some good food. Also it's become a me time thing. A moment that gives me an excuse to zone out, maybe listen to a podcast, and overall chill.
